  • Otters preferred main riverbeds to abstracted water and tributaries.
  • Within the main riverbed, otters selected for stretches modified by hydropower.
  • Otters show a flexible habitat selection unintentionally supported by fish stocking.
  • The results indicate a lasting expansion of otters into former abandoned habitat.

Ampedus tristis (Linnaeus, 1758) : une espèce nouvelle pour la faune de Suisse (Coleoptera, Elateridae)

Abstract: Ampedus tristis (Linnaeus, 1758), an emblematic forest-dwelling species new to Swiss fauna (Coleoptera, Elateridae). - Two individuals of Ampedus tristis were collected in the Valais and in Lower Engadine, one in 2013 and one in 2015, using interception traps placed in coniferous forests. These captures represent the first two valid occurrences of this species in Switzerland. This species, which is very rare and exhibits a patchy distribution in central Europe, is considered a relict of primeval forests. A.
