Abstract: Addendum to the Hydrophiloidea species checklist of Switzerland: Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 (Coleoptera: Helophoridae). − Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 was not included on the 2023 checklist of the Hydrophiloidea of Switzerland. Although this species was mentioned for Switzerland in the past, historical literature citations were not supported by specimens in collections. In this note, we present proof of its presence in Switzerland based on specimens collected in 2023 in the canton of Schaffhausen.

Résumé: Dans la récente synthèse faunistique de 2023 traitant des Hydrophiloidea de Suisse, Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 n’avait pas été retenu. Cette espèce avait pourtant été mentionnée de Suisse par le passé, mais les citations de la littérature, très anciennes, n’étaient pas soutenues par des spécimens en collection. Dans cette note, nous présentons les preuves tangibles de sa présence en Suisse, sur la base de collectes effectuées en 2023 dans le canton de Schaffhouse.

Zusammenfassung: Nachtrag zur Liste der Hydrophiloidea der Schweiz: Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 (Coleoptera: Helophoridae). − In der 2023 erschienenen Checkliste der Hydrophiloidea (Wasserkäfer) der Schweiz ist Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 noch nicht berücksichtigt. Diese Art war zwar in der Vergangenheit aus der Schweiz erwähnt worden, aber die betreffenden, sehr alten Literaturzitate sind nirgends durch Sammlungsexemplare belegt. Hier präsentieren wir nun die ersten handfesten Beweise für die Bodenständigkeit von Helophorus nanus in der Schweiz, basierend auf Exemplaren, die 2023 im Kanton Schaffhausen gesammelt wurden.

Riassunto: Addendum alla lista delle specie di Hydrophiloidea della Svizzera: Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 (Coleoptera: Helophoridae). − Helophorus nanus Sturm, 1836 non è stato incluso nella checklist del 2023 degli Hydrophiloidea (coleotteri acquatici) della Svizzera. Sebbene questa specie sia già stata menzionata in passato come presente in Svizzera, le citazioni storiche riferite dalla letteratura non erano documentate da alcun esemplare disponibile in collezione. Presentiamo ora la prima prova concreta della presenza di Helophorus nanus in Svizzera, basata su esemplari raccolti nel 2023 nel Canton Sciaffusa.
