Erstnachweise von Rhyncolus sculpturatus Waltl, 1839 aus der Schweiz (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)

Abstract: First records of Rhyncolus sculpturatus Waltl, 1839 from Switzerland (Coleoptera, Curculionidae). − Rhyncolus sculpturatus was recorded for the first time from Switzerland. Five specimens were collected in central Valais and in Grisons. The habitus and genitalia are shown and compared with the two morphologically most similar species, R. elongatus (Gyllenhal, 1827) and R. strangulatus Perris, 1852. The synonymy of R. nitidipennis Thomson, 1868 with R. sculpturatus is briefly discussed and corrected.

Abstract: Improved understanding of lampyrid beetles in Switzerland and observation of Luciola lusitanica Charpentier, 1825 in Geneva (Coleoptera, Lampyridae). – Five species of Lampyridae are present in Switzerland. While Lampyris noctiluca, Lamprohiza splendidula, Phosphaenus hemipterus and Luciola italica have long been known, the presence of Luciola lusitanica is confirmed here for the first time.

Annotated checklist of Scolytinae and Platypodinae (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) of Switzerland

An updated checklist of the species belonging to the subfamilies Scolytinae and Platypodinae in Switzerland is presented and briefly discussed. A total of 113 species is confirmed. This checklist is based on 42836 occurrences obtained from the identification of specimens held in museum and private collections, as well as on records taken from the literature. Fifteen species recorded from Switzerland in the past are excluded from this list, for reasons of insufficient documentation.
